Counselors

Fun in the Sun is staffed by experienced teachers and counselors. The counselors have themselves attended Fun in the Sun. This makes them especially qualified in that they are well known by the teachers and they have the advantage of truly knowing the program and its expectations.

Sarah Hudson

Sarah has worked with children for 18 years in many capacities from camps, to being a nanny, to now teaching kindergarten for the past eight years. She has lived in the area for most of her life,  is married and has an nine year old son, Jaden

Jane LaFata

 Jane has been working for Fun In The Sun Camp since its opening at the Plymouth Swim Club location in 2010. Jane coordinates creative and energetic activities for the campers. Some popular activities included making paper-mache marionettes, playing Kick the Can and collecting and pressing wild flowers.  Previously, Jane served as a camp counselor at The Camp at Oak Lane Day School for five years. She has been a primary school educator for the past 16 years and  is currently a Preschool teacher. 

Tamika Blackson

Tamika is an elementary ed teacher(k-6th). She has been teaching and working with children for over 10 yrs.
 

Chandler White

Hi! My name is Chandler White. I attended Fun in the Sun as a child and worked as a counselor for a couple of years, I am excited to be returning this summer. I was born and raised in Mt. Airy and I am currently a Communications and Music Business major at Albright College in Reading Pennsylvania, I will be a sophomore there this fall. In my free time I am usually playing bass with a Reading band, Nick Homa & The Picturesque.

Danielle Green

 
My name is Danielle Green and I recently graduated from Wissahickon High School. During high school I was in TV club and Robotics for Team 341, Miss Daisy. I am now attending American University and majoring in Communications. I first went to Fun in the Sun about 7 years ago after it was recommended by a friend. Enjoying it immensely compared to my previous experiences in summer camps I decided to work as a counselor.

Nayo Jones

Hi! My name is Nayo Jones and I’m 17 years old. I’m going to be starting my senior year as a vocal major at the Philadelphia High School for the  Creative And Performing Arts. I’ve been a counselor at FiTS for a while and went to camp here when I was young. I love the free spirits of the children at FITS and working with them is incredibly rewarding. I just hope to give them the same fun and excitement that I had as a FITS child.

Maggie Bucci

 

 
Howdy! My name is Maggie Bucci and I will soon be an 18 year old Burlington Twp. High School graduate. I will be attending Kutztown University in the fall, double majoring in Art Ed. and Crafts. I love art, music, sports, and happy campers. I attended Fun In The Sun for many years and I am so excited to be coming back!
 

Chad Robinson

Hi! My name is Chad Robinson and I’m currently 16 years old. I will be turning 17 in May 25th. I’ve been going to Fun In The Sun since I was 7 years old and I love the camp, the campers, and of course, working there. I attend George Washington Carver High School of Engineering and Science. I am a Junior and am on the varsity baseball team. I love playing sports (baseball, soccer, basketball, and football), drawing, and music. Hopefully, we have a good summer this year

Zachary Port

Hi, I’m Zachary Port.  I am seventeen years old and when the school year starts again, I will be a senior at Wissahickon High School.  I have been a camper since I was three and have always enjoyed camp activities.  I babysit and was a counselor at another camp so I like being around kids.  At school, I am a good student and in the key club (community service) and the tv club.  This is my second summer at Fun in the Sun as a counselor and I am very excited to meet all the new campers.

Kyle Adams

Hi my name is Kyle Adams, I am in tenth grade and now attend Bishop McDevitt high school, I went to Abington Friends School in ninth grade. I enjoy  I Have been going to Fun In The Sun since I was 10, I was a camper and then a counselor. I enjoy the camp and everyone there, I know what the kids are going through if they get homesick but I reassure them that everything is okay and that their parent sent them to camp to have a good time. I love having fun and playing games with the kids but a big importance to me is safety and so I am very attentive to what kids are doing and try to make camp a fun but safe place. All in all I love working at camp and look forward to do it again every year as soon as the summer’s over.

Peter Taylor

Hi. My name is Peter Taylor. I am 16 years old and am attending St. Joseph’s Prep for high school. Next year I will be in 11th grade. I live in Mt. Airy. I have been attending Fun in the Sun for around 10 years. This will be my third year as a camp counselor. I play soccer, baseball, and squash, and also enjoy basketball. I am also a part of  Yes! And…, a collaborative theater arts group for children. I love to hang out with the younger kids and get to know them better. I have formed great friendships with many of my fellow counselors, some of whom I have known for around a decade. My favorite part about Fun in the Sun is the freedom the kids enjoy during each day. I like to interact with the kids and let them choose their own activities.

Anna Shafer

Hi! My name is Anna Shafer. I’m fifteen years old, and will be a sophomore at Central High School in Philadelphia this upcoming school year. I love music, theater, art, reading, and of course, working at Fun In The Sun! I’ve spent every summer at F.I.T.S. since I was almost five years old and heading into kindergarten, making this my eleventh summer here, and my third as a counselor! I absolutely loved my time spent at camp as a child and enjoy being a counselor here even more. I’m looking forward to a great summer getting to know and have fun with all the campers!
 

Ethan Snyder

My name is Ethan Snyder and I have been going to Fun In The Sun since I was six, and this will be my second year as an official consoler. It is a great camp with a lot of freedom and a great experience that feels like a second home. I go to Germantown Friends School and I am currently a freshman. I turn 15 on June 30th and my favorite activities at camp are playing baseball and basketball with friends and just relaxing!

Annie Brong

My name is Annie Brong, and I will be a sophomore next year at Springfield Township Highschool. I was a camper myself at Fun in the Sun for many years, and I’m excited to start a new summer.
 

Dillon Gast

My name is Dillon I’m 14 and the reason I wanted to be a councelor is because I’ve been going to Fun in the Sun since I was about 5 years old. I’ve always had an awesome time at Fun in the Sun and didn’t want it to end so I figured what better way to spend my summer then coming to work at the camp that I’ve practically grown up in. I work extraordinarily well with kids and enjoy every minute of my time at Fun in the Sun.
 

Kayla Green

I am Kayla Green and I attend Wissahickon High school, ninth grade. I dance and compete at Addicted2dance. I am very outgoing, and I love to have fun with kids!  I’ve been going to Fun in the sun for at least 8 years which was recommended from a friend.

Sana Cuffey

Hi, my name is Sana. I am 14 years old and I will be attending Science Leadership Academy as a freshman in September. I have been a camper at FITS since I was nine and worked as a CIT. This year will be my first year as a counselor and I am looking forward to working with the kids. I play sports (basketball, soccer, track, and crew) and have a fine interest towards music. I also play the guitar. I cannot wait to begin working at Fun In The Sun this summer.

Justin Watson

Hi, my name is Justin. I am 14 years old and I attend the William Penn Charter School where I will be a high school freshman in September. I was a camper at Camp Fun in the Sun for the past 3 years and was also a CIT, then junior counselor for a year. I am really excited about being a counselor at Camp Fun in the Sun because I love working with kids. My experience as a junior counselor has helped to prepare me for becoming a counselor. I am very much looking forward to being a counselor at Fun in the Sun.  

Daniel Lewis

 My name is Daniel Lewis, I’m going into the ninth grade at the William Penn Charter School. In my free time i like to play the guitar, visit friends, and play sports like football, and baseball. I live in Mt. Airy with my parents, my older brother, and my two cats. One reason I am happy to work at Fun in the Sun is because I love working with younger kids and giving them the experience i had as a young camper at the camp. 

Owen Fox

Hi my name is Owen Fox. I am 13 years old, 14 this summer. I like reading and surfing the internet. I’ve been going to FITS for a while now but this is my 1st year being a counselor. I hope we all have a good time!

Henry Hoffman

Hi! My name is Henry Hoffman, and I am going into ninth grade at Upper Dublin High School. Growing up in the Chesnut Hill area, I attended Plymouth Meeting Friends School, where I was taught by Dora and Bonnie. After moving briefly to Michigan, my family came back and settled in Dresher, PA. I play travel soccer, basketball, football, and run school track. Last year, I was a counselor in training at Fun in the Sun, and I have been attending the camp for about three years. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work as an official counselor because I love working with children of all ages, and get along with them very well. My previous experience has helped prepare me to take on such an important role in this camp, and I am looking forward to seeing you all this summer!

Gordie 

Hi my name is Gordie. I have been going to Fun in the Sun since I was in Kindergarten. Fun in the Sun is a great place for your children to come and enjoy themselves with a large variety of activities. This camp is a great place for your kid to meet new friends and see old ones. I love working with children, and am so excited to be a counselor this year.
