Counselors
Fun in the Sun is staffed by experienced teachers and counselors. The counselors have themselves attended Fun in the Sun.
This makes them especially qualified in that they are well known by the teachers and they have the advantage of truly knowing the program and its expectations.
Sarah Hudson
Sarah has worked with children for 17 years in many capacities from camps, to being a nanny, to now teaching kindergarten for the past eight years. She has lived in the area for most of her life, is married and has an eight year old son, Jaden
Jessie Beer
Hi! I am Jessie Beer. I am so thrilled to be spending another summer working at Fun In the Sun. Fun in the Sun is a unique environment that allows children the freedom to explore their imagination and creativity. Having experienced this as both a camper and counselor, I feel so proud to be a part of this camp. I have had a very exciting year since I saw everyone last summer… I lived and worked on a farm in Northern California from September until January and then traveled in Peru with my sister for nearly 3 months! I am currently living back in the Berkshires until camp starts, finishing my Yoga Teacher Training back at Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health (the yoga center I lived at for 8 months as a volunteer last year). I feel so blessed to be able once again be a part of Fun In the Sun this summer. Looking forward to seeing you all! Peace.Joey Bilyk
Hi! I’m Joey Bilyk and I live in Mt. Airy. I’ve graduated from Central High and, more recently, the University of Pittsburgh. I’m big into exploring the imagination. The great thing about Fun in the Sun is the lack of the concrete structure that a typical summer camp might have. Kids are free to run around together and explore the fantastic world of the imagination. When I was a camper at Fun in the Sun, I was able to be Bulbasaur, my favorite Pokémon, the entire day because there wasn’t a structured itinerary keeping me from my imagination world. As a counselor, I don’t want to be just the sheppard that guides the kids safely from the bus, to the pool and to the bathroom; I want to be counselor who jumps into the adventure with them.
I’m also the swim instructor for Fun in the Sun. I’ve been teaching with Fun in the Sun since 2009 and I taught with Miquon Day Camp before hand. In high school, I swam on my high school team and taught swimming lessons with the Abington YMCA.
Michael Bilyk
Hi, I’m Michael Bilyk. I’m a Sophmore at Penn State University. I attended Plymouth Meeting Friends School for my elementary education and I have been going to Fun in the Sun since I was very young. Right now, I am on track to becoming an Electrical Engineer, but I plan on becoming an industrial designer in the future. I really enjoy soccer, rock climbing, technology, design, biking, and delicious food. My favorite thing about Fun in the Sun is the counselors. I had a hard time going to other camps because the counselors just seemed like they were there to look after me, not to have fun with me. When I was a camper at Fun in the Sun the counselors would hang out with me and play games with me, not just stand around acting superior. Fun in the Sun has always been a place where you can make your own choices. I love working there as a counselor because it allows me to interact with the kids in a way that is not possible at other camps.

Zachary Port
Hi, I’m Zachary Port. I am sixteen years old and when the school year starts again, I will be a junior at Wissahickon High School. I have been a camper since I was three and have always enjoyed camp activities. I babysit and was a counselor at another camp so I like being around kids. At school, I am a good student and in the key club (community service) and the tv club. This is my first summer at Fun in the Sun and I am very excited to meet all the campers and counselors.
Allie Beer
Hi, my name is Allie Beer. I was fortunate to have gone to Fun in the Sun camp as a camper many years ago. One of the main reasons why I love this camp is because the kids are free to do what they like during the day. Personally, I love all the arts and crafts projects. I am currently traveling around South America, but will be coming home for an amazing summer working at Fun in the Sun. Before I left, I was studying English at Temple University. Some of my interests include doing various art projects, traveling, and hula hooping. This summer is going to be magical and beautiful, and I cannot wait!
Katie Brong
