Fun in the Sun is staffed by experienced teachers and counselors. The counselors have themselves attended Fun in the Sun. This makes them especially qualified in that they are well known by the teachers and they have the advantage of truly knowing the program and its expectations.
Sarah has worked with children for 20 years in many capacities from camps, to being a nanny, to now teaching kindergarten for the past eleven years. She has lived in the area for most of her life, is married and has a ten year old son, Jaden
Jane has been working for Fun In The Sun Camp since its opening at the Plymouth Swim Club location in 2010. Jane coordinates creative and energetic activities for the campers. Some popular activities included making paper-mache marionettes, playing Kick the Can and collecting and pressing wild flowers. Previously, Jane served as a camp counselor at The Camp at Oak Lane Day School for five years. She has been a primary school educator for the past 17 years and is currently a 3rd grade teacher.
Hey! My name is Joey. I’m a 2011 University of Pittsburgh graduate and a Mt. Airy native.
Summer has been synonymous with Fun in the Sun since the days when I was an energetic kindergarten student running around Bonnie and Dora’s classrooms at Plymouth Meeting Friends. I’ve stayed with the camp all these summers because Fun in the Sun gives campers the imaginative space to enjoy summer without the daily itineraries and detailed schedules of more regimented summer camps.
For me, the pool has always been the most important feature of summer time fun. As Fun in the Sun’s in house swimming instructor, I offer 30 minute one-on-one lessons to campers of all levels. My approach is kind and persistent with three goals of confidence, competence and fun. I taught for the Abington YMCA in 2006-2007 and I’ve been holding lessons with Fun in the Sun since 2008. I spent 2012 abroad as a school teacher in Thailand and missed last year’s lessons so I’m excited to be back in the pool this upcoming summer!
