And we all had “Fun in the Sun”

Time has flown by and camp has come to a close. Where has the summer gone?

I was walking around the girl’s locker room on Thursday afternoon and saw some sad campers & counselors. I heard their conversations but stayed in the background: “I’m so bummed” “I Love Summer”… and so on…..and then one of the counselors (our dear Anna) said: “Don’t think about it being over…think of all the good things that happened and how much fun you had”.

That stayed with me because I loved her perspective about something “good”, “happy”, “fun”. It’s a great way to look at our life’s funnest moments. Campers & counselors, Thank you for all those “fun” moments !

Your wonderful children will be returning to school this week and the school year routine will begin.

We wanted to let you know that…We have enjoyed your children! We loved playing with them. We loved listening to their stories. We had so much fun….They are totally awesome!!!

Your children have done lots of swimming, in fact lots and lots of swimming. We had such wonderful weather all summer that we spent it at the pool mostly four days a week.

@Fun in the Sun 2011

On trip days the children have golfed (miniature), bowled, roller skated, Happy Tymed, climbed, saw a movie or two, bounced and climbed some more, got splashed with a big bucket full of water, went down water slides, sat on a tube, tied dyed, learned how to spend money in the snack bar….

They did sports… soccer, basketball, kickball, capture the flag…..etc, etc, etc.

@FunintheSun

But most of all they have played. Then they played more, and then they played even more. They met lots of new friends, connected with old friends, and played some more.They used their imagination and creativity, played games indoors and out, invented their own games, spent LOTS of time inside and outside in the mornings and making full use of the great 11 acres at the swim club in the afternoons.

Please be sure your child always has a pair of socks in his/her backpack in case the weather causes us to make last minute adjustments and take a trip to a place that requires socks. Fun in the Sun’s late pick-up policy: There is a late fee  of $1.00 a minute for late pick-up in the afternoon. If you arrive after 6:00 pm to pick up your child, please pay the person that is waiting with your child.

Please visit our website/blog often since news and photos go up several times a week.

We are also trying to make it easy on Monday mornings so parents don’t have to stand in line very long. Go to forms and click on Payment form. Fill the form out and insert in an envelope with your check and pool money. Also add the snack money for your child if you want us to hold it. This way you can just drop off the envelope and not stand in line.

In case you have forgotten the form but still would like to leave more easily/quickly, there will also be envelopes and forms available at the “desk” at Crefeld.  Just fill one out and you’re done.

Testimonial

This is the first year of Fun in the Sun for our kids – it came highly recommended as an affordable camp where kids can just relax, make new friends, and play! Their school year is so structured and it’s wonderful that Fun in the Sun provides an opportunity for a different kind of growth.

I’ve noticed how happy Grant and Sydney are to get up and get ready for camp in the morning (this is no small feat!) so in addition to their saying it, we know they love this camp.

Elisabeth Hadden
Mother of Grant & Sydney

Fun in the Sun reminds me of my best summer days from childhood. My boys play hard all day with good friends. They hang at the swimming pool. This is where they both learned to swim in fact. Getting their high dive bands is cause for celebration each June. At Fun in the Sun they feel free to play sports, make beautiful art, perform, and most importantly relax and enjoy just being kids. I trust the staff implicitly to put their safety first. Just as important I know they are appreciated and known and cared for as individuals. I cannot imagine a summer without Fun in the Sun and neither can my children.
